Amicalola River, Northern Georgia: Thursday, July 10, 2008

This was my last outing in Georgia to one of my favorite places, the Amicalola River (near Tate, Georgia).  I used to go here frequently, and often would take my labs Brandis & Tika with me.  The area is famous for the Amicalola Falls, but a good ways downriver is where these pictures were taken.  The river broadens out and deepens in this area, and there are some Class IV whitewater rapids not far from where these pictures were taken.

This has always been a favorite place for Brandis & Tika, so shortly before packing up and moving to Utah, I took them here for one last excursion.  As you can see, they had an amazing time.  I miss this place, but only fleetingly, since there are so many amazing places here in the West to explore.

If you're ever in Georgia, check it out -- it's worth a side trip.
